SHILLONG, Dec 30: Senior NPP leader and former Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh asserted Tuesday that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government is stable, but stressed that stabilising the water distribution system in Shillong and other urban areas must be the government’s top priority.
Speaking to the media, Lyngdoh acknowledged that while essential developmental activities—such as road construction and infrastructure expansion—are necessary for state progress, they often cause public inconvenience. She urged the government and executing agencies to make concerted efforts to minimise disruption and limit the impact on residents’ daily lives.
Lyngdoh also expressed satisfaction with the improved power scenario this year, noting that the electricity supply has been comparatively stable and reliable. She said the stability provides relief to consumers, particularly households and businesses.
The former minister also drew attention to challenges faced by farmers across the state. She urged the government to take sustained action to address issues related to irrigation, agricultural marketing, and overall support for the farming community. She added that strengthening the agricultural sector is crucial for improving farmers’ livelihoods and ensuring long-term economic stability in rural areas.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to public welfare, Lyngdoh asserted the MDA Government remains focused on serving the people. She concluded that all necessary steps would be taken to maintain peace and communal harmony, underscoring that unity and stability are essential for the state’s overall development.
