SHILLONG: In a shocking incident a 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Dong Nongbah in West Jaintia Hills on May 4.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, police arrested one Khmied Sungoh who is the alleged perpetrator of the crime.
Meanwhile, the CSWO has demanded that the accused in the case should not be granted bail. It also urged the authorities to ensure speedy justice to all rape victims.
The CSWO stated that a copy of the medical report should be given to the victim as there have been many instances when the production of the medical report was delayed in court.
40-year-old raped in vehicle
In another incident, one Nehimaia Laloo allegedly raped a 40-year-old woman inside his vehicle in Jowai on Saturday last.
Police arrested the accused on Monday.
West Jaintia Hills SP Herbert Lyngdoh said that the woman who hails from Mynsngat village was allegedly raped by Laloo near the Wahiajer play ground.
Police also seized the vehicle of the accused.
