TURA, Jan 16: West Garo Hills Police apprehended two more suspects in the assault and murder of ACHIK member Dilseng M. Sangma on January 9, bringing the total of those arrested to six.
Following the incident, police arrested Rafikul Islam (47), Anarul Islam (30) and Atowar Islam (40) on the very night of the incident. Ariful Islam (30) was arrested on January 11 while Rajabala police arrested Bahadur Sheikh (21) and Mozidur Sheikh (22) on Thursday for their involvement in the assault-murder case.
Police sources further confirmed that the investigation into the matter remains ongoing and more arrests are likely. However the owner/operator of the illegal quarry, who absconded on the night of the incident, remains at large.
