SHILLONG: In a noble initiative, St. Anthony’s College is opening its doors to the underprivileged youths of the State who desire to continue their education and to graduate from a reputed institution.

The College has announced the inauguration of the Bachelors of Arts Pass Course (Evening Shift) from this year onwards and it is geared specifically towards meeting the needs of students who have not been able to find admission into good colleges due to their low percentages.

However, it is available only to Class XII (Arts) passed students who have passed their exams with a simple pass. At present only fifty seats are available in the evening shift. Preference will be given to the most economically deserving candidates, with 30% – 35% at Class XII (Arts).

Classes will be held from Monday to Saturday from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The subject combinations are English, Political Science, History, Philosophy, Khasi/Alt. English.

The candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in an interview to be conducted by a panel and selected candidates will be extended financial assistance in the form of scholarships with the possibility of going for higher education based on their academic performance.

Every student admitted to this course will be required to complete at least one vocational trade per year from Don Bosco Technical School, Shillong, to enable them to arm themselves with a specific skill so as to come to terms with the ever-demanding job market.
