SHILLONG: A city court on Thursday rejected the bail application of the controversial vice-chancellor of CMJ University Chandra Mohan Jha.

This is for the third time the court has rejected the bail plea of Jha.

Sources informed that the investigating officer wanted to interrogate Jha to extract some more information.

Informing that the police earlier had got just six days to interrogate Jha, sources said that the police could not make much progress as the VC was admitted to Shillong Civil Hospital on health ground.

Meanwhile, sources informed that the police are also investigating into the MoU which was signed between the university and the Resource Centre, Bangalore.

“As per the MoU, there was an agreement that the centre would provide 1000 PhD students and 10,000 students per calendar year,” sources said.

Police had earlier arrested that representative of the Resource Centre, Bangalore and Jha’s close aide Dhanwant Singh Matharoo.
