Gasuapara, Jan 18: Residents of Telekali village under Gasuapara C&RD Block in South Garo Hills on Saturday filed an FIR against the BDO for not releasing their wages of 60 days under various central schemes.
The non-payment refers to a convergence scheme under PMAY and MGNREGA that was sanctioned in 2024.
“In this matter, we have submitted letters to the concerned officers (BDO, PMAY- Block incharge and MGNREGA incharge officers), including Project Director – DRDA, SGH, but haven’t received a reply from them since. The delay in releasing the funds is a direct violation of the guidelines set by the PMAY and MGNREGA scheme and has caused undue hardship to the beneficiaries like us, who are eagerly awaiting this financial assistance for getting housing projects and wanting to complete house construction,” the beneficiaries stated. They added that the delay in paying the wages not only affected the beneficiaries but also hampered the progress of the housing projects in Telekali. According to the FIR filed at the Gasuapara police, more than 50 beneficiaries could not complete their houses under the Telekali VEC.
The non-compliance with the timeline set for the disbursement of funds reflects the effect on the C&RD office. We urge you to investigate the matter promptly and take necessary action to ensure that the 60-day wages allocated for the PMAY-MGNREGA convergence wages in Telekali village are disbursed without any further delay. It is imperative that the beneficiaries like us receive the financial assistance in a timely manner so that we can continue with our housing projects.
