Speaker, CM mourn Rev Cunville’s demise

SHILLONG, Jan 18: Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressed profound sorrow over the passing of noted Christian leader Rev. Dr. Rieweh Robert Cunville.
In his condolence message, the speaker described Rev. Dr. Cunville as a “renowned and deeply respected Christian leader” who would be remembered for his unwavering dedication to God, his humility, and his abiding respect for all humanity.
He recalled the reverend’s inspiring presence during the pre-Christmas celebration at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly in 2023, where he delivered what was described as a memorable sermon.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma also expressed deep sadness at the passing of the noted evangelist from the state. In his message, the chief minister said Rev. Cunville was “a true shepherd of Christ” who drew people closer to him through a life marked by humility and a spirituality deeply rooted in faith.
Describing him as “a kind and compassionate human being,” the chief minister noted that Rev. Cunville’s sermons reflected profound spiritual insight as well as the quiet strength by which he lived each day. He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, members of the church, and all those who were close to the late evangelist, and prayed that his soul may rest in eternal peace.
