Itanagar:  BJP in Arunachal Pradesh which won 11 seats in the just concluded assembly elections is ready to fight for the cause of the people by playing the role of a constructive opposition.
The BJP team with experienced technocrats, bureaucrats and a doctor is geared up to face any eventuality, its national general secretary Tapir Gao in a meeting here on Tuesday.
Condemning the post-poll violence at Tezu township, where 22 houses were gutted on May 17, in Raga where two godowns were burnt, and in Pasighat where non-tribals have been threatened, Gao blamed the ruling Congress for the incidents.
He urged the state government, particularly the chief secretary, the director general of police, and the DC and the SP of the respective districts to bring the culprits to book, rehabilitate the victims and provide immediate relief. “Tezu is burning,” Gao said, and called for bold steps, saying that, if required, a senior officer should run to the spot to ensure security and safety of all concerned.
The BJP leaders of the areas had alerted the district administrations in writing about the possibility of such violence, and the administrations have now initiated rehabilitation process, Gao added.
Party’s state unit president Tai Tagak said that honouring the mandate of the people, the party’s legislators would work for bringing good governance and security, accelerate development in the state, and take steps to strengthen the party. (PTI)
