Govt to inaugurate several urban projects after financial year-end

SHILLONG, Feb 10: The state government is preparing to inaugurate several urban development projects after the close of the current financial year, Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar said on Tuesday.
Dhar said that a number of infrastructure works, including projects related to schools and other civic facilities, are nearing completion and are expected to be inaugurated in the coming months.
He stated that the redevelopment of Police Bazar has already been completed and inaugurated.
He further said the MTC project is likely to be ready for inauguration by May or June. Besides these, several other projects, including water supply schemes and additional infrastructure initiatives, are progressing steadily and have already been reported in the public domain.
On parking infrastructure, the Deputy Chief Minister noted that the Chief Minister recently inaugurated a multi-level parking facility.
He added that more parking projects are under development and are in full progress, expressing confidence that additional facilities would be inaugurated in the coming months.
Regarding the project located opposite Ward’s Lake, Dhar clarified that it does not fall under the Urban Development department.
He indicated that the project may be under the Tourism department and suggested that further details be sought from the concerned department.
