3 more held in ACHIK member’s murder case

TURA, Feb 14: West Garo Hills Police has arrested three more persons in connection with the murder of ACHIK member Dilseng M. Sangma, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 13.
According to the police, the absconding accused were apprehended from different parts of Garo Hills and Tripura over the last few days.
Gulbahar Sheikh (45) was arrested from Bhaitbari on February 9, while Mominul Hoque (40) was picked up from Siddakandi on February 11. On February 12, a police team conducted a raid in Agartala, Tripura, to apprehend one of the main accused, Mozidul Islam. The team returned from Agartala on Saturday morning, and all the accused have been produced before the court.
The case pertains to an incident on January 9, when Dilseng was killed after a mob attacked a group of ACHIK members near Goalgaon village. The members were returning in four vehicles after inspecting illegal stone quarries near the Wadagokgre area.
Dilseng and a colleague sustained serious injuries in the attack and were rushed to Tura Civil Hospital, where Dilseng later succumbed to his injuries.
