NEW DELHI, Feb 14: On February 14, the nation paused.
Seven years ago, on this day in 2019, 40 CRPF jawans were on the road from Jammu to Srinagar—men in uniform, but also sons, husbands, fathers, friends. Their convoy moved along the highway in Pulwama, unaware that in moments, everything would change.
The attack that followed shook the country to its core.
Remembering them, the Central Reserve Police Force shared a simple but powerful message: they will never be forgotten. “Lest we forget,” the CRPF wrote, honouring the courage and sacrifice of the 40 bravehearts who laid down their lives. Director General GP Singh and all ranks paid their respects, standing in solidarity with the families who continue to carry the weight of that loss.
Across the country, tributes poured in.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the fallen soldiers, saying their courage still inspires every Indian and lives on in the nation’s collective spirit. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan paid homage, calling their sacrifice a part of history that will forever guide the country forward.
Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi offered heartfelt tributes, saying the nation remains indebted to the soldiers for giving their lives in service of the motherland. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also bowed his head in remembrance, recalling their indomitable courage and unwavering devotion. (ANI)
