SHILLONG, Feb 16: The five districts of Garo Hills are all set to become the epicentre of hectic political action with the state government on Monday announcing the detailed schedule for the GHADC election to be held on April 10.
The schedule for the GHADC election was approved by the State Cabinet here Monday.
Cabinet Minister Wailadmiki Shylla informed that the notification for the GHADC election will be issued on March 9, while the last date for filing of nominations is March 16 before 3 pm. Scrutiny of nominations will take place the same day after 3 pm.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination is March 17 till 3 pm.
Publication of valid nominations and allotment of election symbols will be done on March 18.
Polling will take place on April 10 from 7 am to 4 pm while results will be declared on April 14.
The GHADC election will be a test of strength for the NPP which is facing strong anti-incumbency which battling issues related to corruption, illegal mining, influx and other key citizen-centric issues.
