Shillong, Feb 19: Laitkynsew Mission Club and Mawphlang CC registered convincing wins on Day 2 of the 5th East Khasi Hills District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026, producing two competitive contests.
In Match 3, Laitkynsew Mission Club defeated Seng Samla Mawlong Mawriang (SSM Mawriang) by 28 runs after a commanding all-round display from Mebanrikupar Malngiang.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Laitkynsew posted a formidable 182 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Malngiang led the charge with a blistering 73 off just 35 deliveries, setting the tone with aggressive strokeplay. For SSM Mawriang, Stevintinison Lynrah impressed with the ball, returning figures of 3 for 20 in his four overs.
Chasing 183 for victory, SSM Mawriang were bowled out for 154 in 17.5 overs despite a valiant 64 off 32 balls from Rahul Bhimsubro. Malngiang capped off a memorable outing by claiming 3 for 23 in 3.5 overs, sealing a comprehensive 28-run win for Laitkynsew. He was deservedly adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round brilliance.
In Match 4, Mawphlang CC secured a six-wicket victory over Royal Rangers CC in a well-contested encounter.
Royal Rangers, after electing to bat, managed 132 for 6 in 20 overs, with Lalaplad Tariang top-scoring with 31 off 21 balls. Janai was the pick of the bowlers for Mawphlang, claiming 2 for 18 in his four overs to restrict the opposition.
In reply, Mawphlang CC chased down the target comfortably, reaching 133 for 4 in 17 overs. Janai Dohtdong starred with the bat as well, scoring a steady 63 off 53 deliveries to anchor the innings. Though Balabianglang Buhphang delivered an impressive spell of 4 for 29 for Royal Rangers, it was not enough to prevent Mawphlang from sealing the win.
Janai Dohtdong was named Player of the Match for his impactful all-round performance.
