State rugby pushes for grassroots development

SHILLONG, Feb 22: The Meghalaya Rugby Association, established in 2025 and registered under the Societies Act, is laying the foundation for structured growth of rugby across the State with a clear focus on grassroots development and competitive exposure.
The Association convened its second Executive Meeting on Saturday at the Pinewood Hotel at 4 pm, where members deliberated on a comprehensive roadmap to promote and expand the sport in Meghalaya. Discussions centred on grassroots promotion, structured training programmes, district-level expansion, affiliation processes, and the organisation of upcoming tournaments.
The Association has been formed with the objective of nurturing young talent, organising systematic competitions, and creating opportunities for players.
