Hubli, Feb 26: Skipper Mayank Agarwal struck a defiant unbeaten 130 to steady Karnataka, but Jammu and Kashmir remained in firm control at stumps on Day 3 of the Ranji Trophy final at the Hubli Cricket Ground on Thursday.
Replying to J&K’s imposing 584, Karnataka ended the day on 220/5, still trailing by 364 runs.
Earlier, resuming their innings, Jammu and Kashmir added 57 runs to their overnight score, with Sahil Lotra (72), Abid Mushtaq (28) and Yudhvir Singh Charak (30) pushing the total to 584. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the bowlers for Karnataka with a five-wicket haul.Karnataka’s reply began on a shaky note as Auqib Nabi Dar removed KL Rahul early. The visitors tightened their grip after lunch, with Nabi striking twice in quick succession to reduce the hosts to 57/4.Amid the collapse, Mayank stood firm. Watchful at first, he gradually found rhythm and stitched together a vital 105-run partnership with Shreyas Gopal to rebuild the innings. (PTI)
