SHILLONG, Feb 26: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) on Friday urged the state government to stop personal interviews for Group D posts, alleging that the current recruitment process violates a previous official notification.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary, KHNAM working president Thomas Passah cited a notification issued on July 29 last year, which abolished personal interviews for Group D recruitment to ensure transparency.
Passah noted that the General Administrative Department recently advertised vacancies for room bearer, peon, sweeper and cleaner at Meghalaya House in New Delhi, with interviews scheduled for March 6. The party claimed this decision contradicts a subsequent directive issued on September 29 that removed the interview component for such roles.
The KHNAM leader requested the Chief Secretary to intervene and ensure compliance with the government’s own orders to maintain a fair recruitment system.
