Union min to begin 3-day M’laya visit from today

SHILLONG, Feb 28: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, will undertake a three-day official visit to Meghalaya from March 1 to 3 to review welfare programmes in the East Khasi Hills district.
On the first day of his visit, the union minister will chair a programme at the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRCSRE) in Shillong. He is expected to review the centre’s activities and interact with both officials and beneficiaries.
During the tour, Dr. Kumar will visit various educational institutions, health facilities, de-addiction centres and child care institutions. He will also lead a district review meeting to assess the implementation of schemes under his ministry and other related welfare initiatives in the state.
The visit is primarily aimed at evaluating ongoing initiatives for skill development, rehabilitation and the empowerment of persons with disabilities in the region.
