Akhil slams Cong

Meanwhile Amidst the uncertainty in the Opposition camp over seat-sharing arrangements, Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi criticised the Congress for “unilaterally” releasing its first list of candidates on Tuesday.

Gogoi said the Congress’ decision to release the candidates’ list amidst the ongoing discussions was ‘unfortunate and regrettable’.

He expressed dismay over what he described as a breach of trust in the negotiation process on the part of the Congress.

The release of the first list of 42 candidates comes as a jolt to the regional party at a sensitive time underscoring growing tension between the parties over seat-sharing arrangements.

While the Congress reportedly offered Raijor Dal four seats, four friendly contests, and proposals for five additional constituencies, the regional party found the arrangement unsatisfactory.

According to reports, Raijor Dal wants to contest 15 constituencies even as the alliance talks with Congress remain inconclusive.
