SHILLONG, March 11: Booking accommodation at Meghalaya Houses located in different parts of the country has now gone digital with the launch of a new online booking system aimed at simplifying reservations for citizens and government officials.
The digital platform was launched on Tuesday by General Administration Department Minister Sosthenes Sohtun in the presence of Rangsakona MLA Subir Marak, along with senior government officials and representatives of the National Informatics Centre (NIC).
Officials present during the launch included Sampath Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Meghalaya House New Delhi, Ramkumar S., Officer on Special Duty at Meghalaya House Vellore, as well as Additional Resident Commissioners of Meghalaya Houses in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, besides NIC Meghalaya officials and senior officers of the General Administration Department.
With the launch, the newly introduced system enables users to book accommodation in Meghalaya Houses across major cities including New Delhi, Mumbai, Vellore, Kolkata and Guwahati through an online platform.
The portal allows visitors to apply for rooms, dormitories and conference halls online using an SMS-based OTP login system. Users can access the service by visiting the government portal at gad.meghalaya.gov.in/meghhouse or by scanning the QR code provided on the platform. The system also integrates secure digital payment facilities through the GRAS payment gateway, allowing cashless transactions using UPI, debit cards, credit cards and online banking.
Developed by the National Informatics Centre, Meghalaya, the platform replaces the earlier manual, paper-based booking process with a structured digital system aimed at improving efficiency and transparency.
For administrators, the portal provides a centralised dashboard to manage bookings, track occupancy, monitor revenue and generate reports.
