Tura, Mar 14: In view of the prevailing situation in West Garo Hills district, the District Magistrate has issued an order advising all government employees to exercise utmost restraint while using their personal and social media accounts.

As per the order, government employees are strictly prohibited from posting or forwarding messages, audio-video clips, pictures, or any content that may be incendiary or provocative in nature. They have also been directed not to post or comment on law and order incidents occurring in other districts or states in a manner that could evoke public reaction or resentment among sections of society.

The order applies to all Government offices in the district, and Heads of Offices have been instructed to ensure strict compliance among their employees.

The administration has warned that any violation of the order will invite legal action under relevant provisions of law in addition to disciplinary proceedings under the Meghalaya Civil Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 2019.

The measure, as per the order, has been taken in the larger public interest to maintain peace and stability in the district.
