Kohima: The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) is said to have rejected invitations from the government to resolve the ongoing issue related to teachers’ posting in the eastern regions of the state.
According to the ENSF sources here on Saturday the reason is the ‘failure’ of the State Government and department concerned to address and fulfil their charter of demands.
The organisation said that it would go ahead with its second phase of agitation.
”There has been no positive response from the department except from the office of the Chief Secretary requesting the federation to call off its agitation as the state government is planning to address and negotiate the demands of the ENSF.
ENSF vice-president Likhumse Sangtam and General Secretary Changsang Soted said that the ENSF officials had been invited to the official residence of the Chief Secretary yesterday to discuss the demands, but the organisation rejected the request, the ENSF said, because the demands are ‘non-negotiable’ and ‘uncompromisable’.
All the units of the students’ organisation in all the four districts and sub-divisions of Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire and Longleng are asked to reach the ENSF’s office in Tuensang today for an emergency meeting to decide the future course of action, they said. (UNI)
