Sony Pictures announces Labubu movie in live-action and CGI
Global toy sensation Labubu is set for a live-action/CGI film adaptation by Sony Pictures and POP MART. BAFTA-nominated director Paul King, known for Paddington and Wonka, will direct, produce, and co-write the screenplay with Tony, Emmy, and Writers Guild nominee Steven Levenson. The project brings to life Labubu, a mischievous goblin-like character from Kasing Lung’s Monsters Trilogy picture books, now a worldwide collectible toy phenomenon. Announced during POP MART’s Paris exhibition, the film is in early development. Lung will executive produce, joined by producers King, Michael Schaefer, and Wenxin She, with Brittany Morrissey overseeing the project for Sony Pictures. (PTI)
