Nagaland PTYS nabs NSCN -K cadre for extortion
Kohima: The Phek Town youths apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre identified as one self-styled ‘captain’ on May 30 after being informed of holding a goods carrying truck for ‘extortion’ by two cadres from the same group. In a release today, the Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) general secretary Seyiengoi Soho said that despite the NSCN (K) Chakhesang Region asked for apology on May 28 for threats meted out to local leaders, business community and disruption of ACAUT rally, the group’s apologies was only on paper and not the case of action taken by disciplining their cadres. The PTYS said that on May 30 evening, two NSCN (K) cadres identified as one self-styled ‘captain’ and one SS ‘2nd lieutenant’ held a truck heading for Dimapur and kept under their custody for purpose of extortion. On receiving the information, PTYS members rushed to the spot, but one of them took out his gun and pointed at them. The youth later apprehended him and handed him over to the police. The PTYS reaffirmed the Phek Town pubic resolution of March 13. Resolving to uphold ACAUT slogan of ‘one tax, one government’, PTYS said it would not allow any cadre of any Naga Political Groups (undergrounds) to extort from the public in Phek Town. It also urged the administration to apprehend the other cadre, who was absconding, the release said. (UNI)
