School children enlightened on magnificence of Manas Park

Guwahati, March 23: Kaahini Children’s Library of Barpeta in Assam organised an exposure trip to the
fringe areas of Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve (MNP &TR) for a group of 12 students of various
schools of Barpeta on March 22 2026.
An audio-visual session on the theme “Know your wildlife” was organised for the group of school students
by Aaranyak at its Manas Conservation and Outreach Centre (MCOC) located on the fringe of the national
park.
Aaranyak’s senior official from Legal and Advocacy Division (LAD), Ms. Binita Baruwati conducted the
session and interacted with students introducing them to the basics of wildlife diversity in general with a
focus on the Manas National Park and its wildlife resources.
The session focused on description of various aspects of Manas National Park like why Manas is famous,
why Manas is important for the landscape, wildlife found in park including the rare wildlife species like
Bengal Florican, Pigmy Hog etc.
The students were enlightened about the landscape and the contiguous forest of Manas National Park and
Royal Manas National Parks (on Bhutan side). Additionally, they were informed about varied species of
plants and vegetation found in Manas as well as importance of plants, insects like butterflies and bees etc.
In the session one of the Aaranyak’s documentary films “Legends of Hollongapar” was screened for the
students who they really enjoyed the documentary. Moreover, photos of wild animals and plants had been
shown to the students for better understanding.
The students were facilitated to have a distant glimpse of the Himalayan Mountain range visible from the
boundary of Manas National Park and the various layers of a forest.
The founder of Kaahini Children’s Library Kuldeep Das organised the exposure trip fir the students in
coordination with Pranab Kumar Goswami, Senior Public Relations Officer of Aaranyak.
