Shillong, March 24: Laitjem CC produced a commanding performance to defeat Sportopia SCC by 93 runs in Match 45 of the 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association.
Opting to bowl first, Sportopia SCC were put under pressure as Laitjem CC piled up a formidable 229 for seven in 20 overs. Ganeshstar Syiem led the charge with a blistering 43 off just 18 deliveries. Despite Lurshai Wahlang’s impressive spell of 4 for 72, the target proved daunting.
In response, Sportopia SCC could only manage 137 for seven, with Yankie Dunai top-scoring with 39.
Ganeshstar Syiem capped off a fine all-round performance by picking up 2 for 8, earning him the Player of the Match award.
In Match 46, Seng Samla Mawriang Mawlong secured a 57-run victory over Superkings (Sohiong) CC in a rain-curtailed encounter reduced to 12 overs. Batting first, Seng Samla posted a strong total of 145 for five, with Gibon Singh scoring 35 off 24 balls, while Bankerlang Syiemiong claimed three wickets.Chasing the revised target, Superkings struggled and were restricted to 88 for nine, despite Aibor Kharjana’s 23. Stevenson Lynrah impressed with the ball, taking 2 for 6. Gibon Singh was named Player of the Match for his crucial contribution. As the league stage progresses, performances like these are beginning to shape the narrative of the tournament, where consistency and composure are proving just as vital as flair.
