Parliament approves Finance Bill 2026
NEW DELHI, March 27: Parliament on Friday approved the Finance Bill 2026 with the Rajya Sabha returning it to the Lok Sabha with a voice vote, completing the budgetary exercise for the next fiscal starting April 1.The Lok Sabha had passed the bill on March 25, along with 32 amendments.The Rajya Sabha returned the bill after a brief discussion, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman replied to queries raised by members.The Union Budget 2026-27 envisages a total expenditure of Rs 53.47 lakh crore, an increase of 7.7 per cent over the current fiscal ending March 31.The total capital expenditure proposed for the next fiscal is Rs 12.2 lakh crore.It proposes a gross tax revenue collection of Rs 44.04 lakh crore and a gross borrowing of Rs 17.2 lakh crore.The fiscal deficit for FY27 is projected at 4.3 per cent of GDP, lower than 4.4 per cent in the current fiscal. Eight killed as pickup truck carrying devotees rams into trailer
KAUSHAMBI (UP), March 27: A pickup truck carrying devotees rammed into a stationary trailer truck on a national highway in Kaushambi district, killing eight people.The pickup vehicle crashed into a trailer parked on the roadside. Around two dozen devotees, including women and children, were travelling in the pickup truck at the time of the incident, the official added.Rescue operations were underway, and the injured have been taken to a nearby Community Health Centre.Further details were awaited. Filming reels, videos banned in Faridabad schools
GURUGRAM, March 27: Students, teachers, and staff at any government school in Faridabad district will not be allowed to make reels or videos during school hours, an official said.The district’s elementary education officer issued an order taking cognisance of some videos circulating online, and keeping in mind, the “dignity and safety” of schools.“This order has been issued to maintain a disciplined environment in schools. It is essential for both students and teachers to understand the dignity of a school. This is a vital step to maintain the standard of education in schools,” said an official.The order states that the creation of reels and videos during class hours is adversely affecting academics. Videos and reels can be filmed on any cultural or awareness-related issue on school premises, only after permission is taken from relevant authority. (PTI)
