Illegal coal mine busted in EJH, 9 arrested

SHILLONG, March 28: East Jaintia Hills Police on Friday uncovered an active illegal coal mining operation at Wailong under Sutnga village, leading to the arrest of nine workers found at the site.
The raid was carried out based on intelligence inputs, during which police detected ongoing coal extraction. All nine individuals present inside the unauthorised mine, officials said.
Following the operation, a case has been registered at Khliehriat Police Station. Police have initiated a detailed investigation to track the supply chain and identify those linked to the transportation and trade of the illegally mined coal.
