Indian Premier League
Bengaluru, March 29: India’s premier batter Virat Kohli added another remarkable milestone to his illustrious career by becoming the first player in Indian Premier League history to score over 4,000 runs in run chases. The landmark was achieved during the IPL 2026 season opener in Bengaluru.
In the process, Kohli also climbed the all-time T20 run charts, surpassing former Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik to become the sixth-highest run-scorer in the format. Malik had accumulated 13,571 runs in 557 matches, with 83 half-centuries.
Adding to the list of records on the night, Royal Challengers Bengaluru registered the fastest successful chase of a 200-plus total in IPL history, reaching the target in just 15.4 overs.
Kohli’s latest feat further underlines his dominance in chase situations, reinforcing his reputation as one of the most reliable batters in high-pressure scenarios in T20 cricket. (Agencies)
