NEW DELHI, March 31: After months of despair, the family of Raja Raghuvanshi was blessed with a son on Tuesday. The household believes the child is the slain brother “reborn” — and they have named him Raja too.
The baby was born to Raja’s elder brother, Sachin. According to Sachin, a priest from the Kamakhya Temple had told him during the 13th-day ritual for Raja that the 29-year-old would be reborn in the family because his death was not natural. As if to confirm the prophecy, the child arrived on the same day and almost at the exact same time.
“Raja died on the eleventh day of the lunar fortnight at around 2:40 pm, while the child was born on the same day at around 2:42 pm,” Sachin said.
Raja was murdered “Ekadashi”, which is the eleventh day of the lunar fortnight. Sachin’s son was also born on Ekadashi, the family said.
Due to this striking coincidence, the family views the event as a divine blessing and the return of their beloved son. “My son has returned once again,” Raja’s mother, Uma Raghuvanshi, said.
Raja Raghuvanshi, a businessman from Indore, was murdered in Sohra in May last year. On May 26, the couple was reported missing, prompting a massive search operation by Sohra police, the Special Operations Team, NDRF, SDRF, trekking groups and locals.
Investigators later found that Sonam was in a relationship with another man, Raj Kushwaha. The duo, along with three hired assailants, allegedly conspired to eliminate Raja during their honeymoon. The killing was carried out by the three hitmen in Sonam’s presence, police said.
Within two weeks of the probe, the five accused, including Sonam, Raj Kushwaha, and his friends, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Singh Rajput and Anand Kurmi, were arrested. The case is still going on.
