Renowned clinical oncologist Dr Yesmin Nureja interacts at PIMC

Ri-Bhoi, April 4: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya
(USTM) and its constituent institution, PA Sangma International Medical
College and Hospital (PIMC) had the privilege of hosting Dr Yesmin Nureja,
MBBS, MD, Fellow (Clinical Oncology), Consultant Clinical and Radiation
Oncologist at Apollo Cancer Centres, Teynampet, Chennai, for an academic
interaction on Saturday, according to a Press release.
The highlight of the visit was an insightful interaction with MBBS students of
the PA Sangma International Medical College. Dr Nureja shared her vast
clinical experience in oncology, offering valuable insights into cancer diagnosis,
radiation therapy, multidisciplinary cancer care, and emerging trends in
oncology practice. She also emphasised the importance of empathy, ethics, and
evidence-based medicine in dealing with cancer patients. The session was
highly interactive, with students actively engaging through questions and
discussions.
Following this, Dr Nureja interacted with the nursing staff at PIMC,
underscoring the crucial role of nursing professionals in oncology care, patient
counselling, and supportive treatment. She appreciated the dedication of the
nursing fraternity and encouraged continuous skill upgradation in specialised
cancer care.

Established in 2011, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya
(USTM) is the first state private university in Science and Technology in North
East India. The University was accredited with an ‘A Grade’ by the National
Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in its first cycle of assessment
in 2021.

Established in 2024, P.A. Sangma International Medical College has
already progressed to its second batch of MBBS students, marking a significant
stride in advancing medical education and healthcare capacity in the region.
