5 arrested for blast outside Punjab BJP headquarters

CHANDIGARH, April 4: Five individuals have been arrested in connection with the blast incident that occurred outside the Punjab BJP headquarters in Chandigarh, police said.The Counter-Intelligence wing of Punjab Police, in a joint operation with Chandigarh Police, solved the Chandigarh grenade attack case.“Five persons involved in the incident have been arrested, and the two perpetrators involved in the attack have been identified,”The DGP said on X.One grenade and another cache have been recovered so far, he further said.Police teams are conducting operations to nab the absconding accused, the DGP added.Preliminary investigations revealed that the module was backed by Pakistan’s spy agency- ISI. Foreign-based handlers in Portugal and Germany have been identified, he said.This operation has effectively foiled a major terror conspiracy aimed at disrupting peace and harmony in the region. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the main accused involved in the case. (PTI)

Nine of family killed as car plunges into well

NASHIK, April 4: Nine members of a family, including six children, were killed after their car fell into an open well in Maharashtra’s Nashik district.The accident occurred at around 10 pm on Friday.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed grief over the deaths of children in the tragic incident, and said that he has ordered an immediate safety audit of open wells in public areas.According to the police, the victims were returning home after attending a function at a banquet hall in the area when their car fell into a well on the roadside near the venue.Personnel from the local police and emergency services arrived at the scene and retrieved the car and its occupants with the help of two cranes and swimmers around midnight.The victims were members of the Dargude family from Indore village in Dindori taluka.The deceased were identified as Sunil Dattu Dargude (32), his wife Reshma, Asha Anil Dargude (32), and six children from the family, including five girls in the age group of seven to 14 years and an 11-year-old boy.The bodies were brought to the government hospital, the official said, adding that a case has been registered.(PTI)

ISRO launches mission in Ladakh

NEW DELHI, April 4: ISRO has announced the launch of a mission in Ladakh to examine the physiological, psychological and operational dynamics of “gaganyatris (astronauts)” and ground teams functioning in a high-altitude environment.The scientific data generated on crew performance and human factors will contribute directly to the Gaganyaan programme and future long-duration missions.Known as the Mission MITRA, the study will be conducted until April 9 at an altitude of approximately 3,500 metres in Leh, simulating the environmental conditions of hypoxia, low temperature and isolation as a natural analog for spaceflight operations.“This study is targeted to generate vital understanding on the team inter-operability between crew (gaganyatris) and ground control teams and effectiveness of decision making under stress,” the ISRO said.
