SHILLONG, April 5: Meghalaya’s SSA and Ad hoc teachers will receive a revised pay structure starting May 1, 2026, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui announced on Saturday. The Minister stated that the decision reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
Rymbui made the announcement while laying the foundation stone for the upgradation and beautification of a football ground at Pdengshakap village in West Jaintia Hills.
The project, estimated at Rs 1.83 crore, involves redesigning the playground and constructing a covered spectators’ gallery, boundary fencing, and public seating. The ceremony coincided with the final of the Pdengshakap Secondary School Football Tournament.
Addressing the gathering, Rymbui commended the Dorbar Shnong Pdengshakap for its proactive support of local education. He noted that the Amlarem subdivision has already produced several talented footballers who represent clubs both within and outside the state.
Regarding sports development, the Minister highlighted government provisions that allow athletes winning medals at major events—including the Olympics, Asian Games, and National Games—to secure employment in various state departments.
He urged local youth to participate in trials for the 2027 National Games to explore career opportunities in sports.
In the tournament final, Kemidon FC defeated Border Line in a tie-breaker to claim the title. The winners were awarded Rs 3.5 lakh, while the runners-up received Rs 2.5 lakh.
