GUWAHATI, April 8: As Assam goes to the hustings on Thursday, as many as 4021 all-women managed polling stations across 35 districts of the state would be setting an example of ensuring greater gender representation as well as serving as a model for encouraging women’s empowerment in democratic institutions.

These polling stations will be fully managed by women, including presiding officers and polling officials, reflecting the growing confidence and active involvement of women in election management.

Among the districts, Cachar has the highest all-women managed polling stations at 398, followed by Sonitpur at 309, Kamrup, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh at 300 each.

Every polling station is webcasted, making the process transparent and monitored in real‑time.

Officials observe that the enthusiasm and performance of women personnel during training sessions played a key role in scaling up the number of such booths this year.

The state has also showcased innovative management as every polling station is webcasted, making the process transparent and monitored in real‑time.

“To strengthen the monitoring mechanism, webcasting facilities have been arranged in accordance with the Election Commission’s directions. Webcasting has been enabled in all 31,490 polling stations, including 31,486 main polling stations and four auxiliary polling stations. This will allow real-time monitoring of polling processes from the offices of the District Election Officers, the Chief Electoral Officer, and the Election Commission of India,” a statement said.
