Energy conservation campaign begins in Nagaland

Kohima: An awareness campaign, organised by the Nagaland State Designated Agency (NSDA), Nagaland Electrical Inspectorate Power Department, in collaboration with Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Union Ministry of Power and Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I) was started at Dimapur.
According to official sources on Sunday, the campaign is targeting the younger generation to be ambassadors of energy conservation and to help fight climate change and global warming awareness campaign on energy conservation at different educational institutions where students were given a succinct lesson with the help of a power point presentation on today’s world energy resources scenario and everyday tips towards its conservation.
Resource person Nilanjan Bose, Senior Manager, Enfragy Solutions India Private Limited and BEE certified energy manager, impressed upon the students that energy can be conserved in our everyday lives by limiting energy uses at homes and undertaking effective energy-saving ideas in the process.
Out of the total home energy use, Bose revealed that more than 44 per cent of energy is consumed at home via heating and cooling, 26 per cent in cooking and appliances, 14 per cent in hot water, 9 per cent in refrigerator, and 7 per cent in lighting. (UNI)
