Shillong, April 9: In a move that signals a fresh push towards motorsport development in the Northeast, the Meghalaya Motorsports Society has announced a significant collaboration with Godspeed Racing to organise a series of high-octane racing initiatives in the state.
The announcement, conveyed through an official communication, underlines a growing ambition to place Meghalaya firmly on India’s motorsport map. While traditionally known for its scenic landscapes and footballing culture, the state is now gearing up to embrace the roar of engines and the thrill of competitive racing. Officials confirmed that the partnership aims to introduce structured racing programmes, talent identification camps, and training modules designed to nurture young enthusiasts. The initiative is expected to provide a professional platform for aspiring drivers from the region, many of whom have so far lacked access to formal infrastructure and guidance.
“This collaboration is not just about racing events; it is about building a culture,” a source close to the development said, hinting at long-term plans that could include grassroots development and potential national-level competitions in the future.
The involvement of a Pune-based outfit like Godspeed Racing, known for its technical expertise and experience in motorsports training, adds credibility and depth to the project. For Meghalaya, this could mark the beginning of a new sporting chapter — one that moves beyond conventional disciplines and taps into the adrenaline-driven world of motorsports. As details of the upcoming events are awaited, excitement is already building among local sports enthusiasts.
