SHILLONG: Educationists, parents and even students have raised an obvious concern over the spurt in private varsities.
A professor from a reputed college in the city said that recently the West Bengal government has announced a series of quality control measures to be followed by these varsities but such a move is “dangerously” lagging on the part of the Meghalaya government against the mushrooming private universities in the state.
In view of this there is a demand from these educationists, parents and students at large that the Meghalaya government should inspect their way of functioning and to fulfill the norms laid down by education regulatory bodies like the AICTE, DCI, MCI, NCTE among others..
