TURA, April 16: Several organizations from Dobu in East Garo Hills along with nokmas and local villagers have called on Opposition leader Dr Mukul Sangma, to take up the matter of making the already completed Dobu Veterinary Centre functional, after repeated demands to the state government failed to draw any action.

In their representation to the leader of the Opposition, the local groups including the AHAM, FKJGP and GSU along with local nokmas and the general public informed that the building which has existed since 2014 has failed to function properly in the absence of any permanent doctors or staff.

“Those attending are from Rongjeng and there is a need to appoint permanent doctors and necessary staff at the centre. As of now cattle and poultry farmers are facing grave difficulties due to the absence of a Veterinary doctor and staff at the centre,” the local groups said.

According to the organization, several representations submitted to the state government seeking that it took initiatives to make the centre functional, fell on deaf ears, which compelled them to take the current course of action.

“We request and hope you will take our subject of demand to the government to appoint a permanent Doctor and staff immediately thereby making the said office operational,” they stated.
