SHILLONG: The Opposition on Wednesday criticized the State Government for making changes in the schemes submitted to DoNER ministry under NLCPR, but an unfazed Chief Minister Mukul Sangma asserted that the State Government has the prerogative to alter the projects.

During Question Hour, Saleng Sangma (Independent) wanted to know why frequent changes are being made by the Government after the schemes were submitted to the DoNER ministry. He also asked whether the Government has any master plan before sending the projects to the Centre.

When there was no direct reply from the Chief Minister, Clifford Marak (GNC) intervened and asked him “why are you not giving a direct reply and you are resorting to a jalebi reply like going round and round which was also the case during BB Lyngdoh’s time”

However, the Chief Minister shot back by saying, “You should also learn this art”.

To a supplementary question raised by Saleng Sangma, the Chief Minister said that the strategy of the Government is to post the projects before the DoNER ministry as per the allocation of funds.

“Though the posting of projects will be limited, we will identify better schemes”, he said.

The Chief Minister also referred to DoNER ministry retaining some projects after the Government projected a few new projects.
