Islamabad, April 22: Pakistan on Wednesday rejected India’s allegations linking it to the Pahalgam terrorist attack, saying New Delhi has not presented “any solid evidence or proof” to support its claims.
The statement was issued on the first anniversary of the attack in Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people on April 22, 2025, when gunmen belonging to the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam.
Following the attack, India carried out Operation Sindoor, targeting alleged terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which led to a brief escalation between the two countries.
Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said India had not provided any credible evidence or satisfactory explanation regarding the incident.
He claimed that blame was placed on Pakistan immediately after the attack without investigation or proof, calling it “baseless and fabricated propaganda.”
Tarar also warned that Pakistan would respond firmly and swiftly to any “misadventure” from India, stressing that such accusations only increase tensions. His remarks highlight continued friction between the two countries over cross-border terrorism allegations and the lack of consensus on accountability for the attack. (PTI)
