Sunrise Academy, BK Bajoria bag wins in inter-school cricket tourney

Shillong, April 25: Sunrise Academy and BK Bajoria School emerged victorious in their respective fixtures of the Inter-School Under-18 and Under-15 Cricket Tournaments organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, producing contrasting wins in closely followed encounters.
In the Under-18 tournament, Sunrise Academy registered a convincing 40-run victory over RB AnupChand Hindi High School through the DLS Method after rain reduced the contest to 12 overs and revised the target to 86.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Sunrise Academy posted a competitive total of 116 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Numan Ahmed anchored the innings with an unbeaten 29 off 37 deliveries, ensuring stability in the middle order, while Huzain Hussain added a useful 19 runs from 17 balls to keep the scoreboard moving.
For RB AnupChand Hindi High School, Deepak Ray was the standout bowler, claiming three wickets while conceding 24 runs in his four-over spell. Shankar Shah also chipped in with one wicket, giving away 27 runs from his quota of overs.Chasing the revised target in a rain-affected contest, RB AnupChand Hindi High School struggled to build momentum and were restricted to just 45 for 7 in 12 overs. Shankar Shah top-scored with a modest 12 runs from 24 deliveries, but the batting unit failed to counter Sunrise Academy’s disciplined bowling attack.
Ashish Kumar delivered a match-winning spell, bowling four overs for just seven runs and picking up three crucial wickets.
Numan Ahmed complemented him well with two wickets for 20 runs in four overs, helping seal a comfortable victory for Sunrise Academy.Ashish Kumar Prasad was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round contribution, scoring six runs and starring with the ball by taking three wickets at a crucial stage of the game.
Meanwhile, in the Inter-School Under-15 Cricket Tournament, BK Bajoria School secured a dominant eight-wicket win over St Anthony’s School in a one-sided affair.
Winning the toss, St Anthony’s School elected to bat first but found runs hard to come by against a disciplined bowling attack. They managed to post 73 for 7 in 15 overs, with Advik Chanda top-scoring with 24 runs off 31 balls, while Arnav Rai contributed 17 runs from 17 deliveries.BK Bajoria School’s bowlers controlled proceedings from the outset, with Samarth Pathak leading the charge by taking three wickets for just nine runs in his three-over spell.
Aryan Sunar provided excellent support, finishing with two wickets while also conceding only nine runs in three overs.
In reply, BK Bajoria School chased down the target comfortably, reaching 76 for 2 in just 12.5 overs. Abhishek Das remained unbeaten on 31 off 37 balls and played the anchor’s role to guide his side home without much trouble.
For St Anthony’s School, Ram Narendra managed to claim one wicket, conceding 12 runs in two overs, but it was not enough to prevent BK Bajoria from cruising to victory.
Samarth Pathak was named Player of the Match for his impactful bowling performance and his contribution of five runs with the bat, playing a key role in BK Bajoria School’s commanding win.
With these results, Sunrise Academy and BK Bajoria School advanced with confidence in their respective age-group tournaments, underlining the growing competitiveness and talent in inter-school cricket in Shillong.
