Meghalaya athletes win 15 medals at Nat’l Kungfu Championship

Shillong, April 28: Fifteen athletes from the Meghalaya School of Martial Arts delivered an impressive performance at the 10th National Kungfu Championship 2026, winning a total of 15 medals, including seven gold, five silver and three bronze medals. The championship was held at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya from April 24 to 26.
Competing against some of the best martial artists from across the country, the Meghalaya contingent displayed remarkable discipline, technical skill and determination throughout the three-day event, further strengthening the state’s growing reputation in martial arts at the national level .
The athletes represented the Meghalaya School of Martial Arts with confidence and consistency, producing strong performances across multiple categories and bringing pride to the institution as well as the state.
Their medal haul reflected not only individual talent but also the effectiveness of structured training and preparation.
The team was guided by coach Lameshwa Majaw, whose leadership and experience played a crucial role in preparing the athletes for the competition. Under his supervision, the team maintained strong discipline and showcased excellent sportsmanship alongside their technical performances in the ring .
Speaking on the achievement, coach Majaw expressed pride in the athletes’ commitment and hard work, stating that the success was the result of consistent training, dedication and strong team spirit.
He emphasised that such performances encourage young martial artists in Meghalaya to believe in their potential and aim higher at the national stage.
