MAWKYRWAT: ‘In economically good times or bad times, financial health and discipline are good for individuals and institutions to follow’, those were the key talking points during a workshop on the ‘Need for banking and proper maintenance of accounts’, on June 14 at Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills District.

The Department of Management & Commerce Studies of Martin Luther Christian University in collaboration with National Service Scheme, NSS Unit organised this Workshop with a view to strengthen the financial well being of small time farmers and social entrepreneurs from the low income group.

“Taking a cue from the ignorance and financial irresponsibility leading to economic poverty, ) MLCU in consultation with the district administration and people from Meghalaya Rural Bank felt that this need is long overdue”, said Marina Marwein, HOD Department of Management & Commerce Studies.

The objective of the workshop is to advocate the need and importance of banking and maintenance of accounts keeping.

About 100 plus participants representing NGOs, self help groups, village employment councils, young entrepreneurs, small business owners and representatives of many local community based organisations, had benefitted from workshop.
