Body found

The East Jaintia Hills Police recovered the body of a 51-year-old man near National Highway-05 at Lumshnong Wahlarung on April 22, 2026. The deceased has been identified as Abdul Latif, son of Alal Uddin, a resident of Ambari Part-III, Rangguili, Goalpara, Assam. Following the completion of legal formalities, the body was moved to the Khliehriat Hospital morgue for identification and claim by family members. The Superintendent of Police, East Jaintia Hills, has requested anyone with information regarding the deceased or his relatives to contact the authorities. The deceased was approximately 5 feet tall, brown-complexioned, and was found wearing a light blue shirt, dark grey pants, and grey underpants. He was barefoot and had a thread tied around the waist.

Office-bearers

The NPP Meghalaya State Unit formally constituted the new office-bearers of its West Khasi Hills district unit. The office-bearers were inducted by Hamlet Dohling in the presence of Gabriel Wahlang, Lurshai Kharbani, HM Shangpliang, Kit Nongrem and Sharai Warjri. The newly constituted district committee will be headed by Gigur Myrthong as president. The party also appointed Gardinal Sohshang, Maiantis Mawlot and Bormandi Nonglang as working presidents. The vice presidents are Farlan Langrin, Yontis Lyngdoh and M J Sangma. The general secretaries include Petrus Hashah, Apsharai Syiem, Senterning Wanniang and Fourteen Lyngkhoi. In addition, 45 members were also inducted as executive members of the district unit.
