SHILLONG: The BSF troops deployed in the border area of South Garo Hills recovered Fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 6000 from two Bangladeshi nationals who were apprehended on international border while they were trying to cross over to Indian territory on Monday.

The apprehended Bangladeshi nationals have been identified as Md Azijul Islam (20) and Md Raihan Haque (32). Besides the fake currency notes, ganja was also recovered from their possession.

The apprehended Bangladeshi nationals revealed that they are active in trans-border smuggling of ganja and other contraband items.

The payment of these smuggled items are made through BD Taka or Indian currency in which they mix good quality fake Indian currency notes for further circulation in markets, the BSF said.
