Shillong, May 15: Shillong Lajong FC produced a spirited comeback performance to defeat Rajasthan United FC 4-2 in an entertaining Indian Football League 2025-26 Championship Round encounter at the SSA Stadium here on Friday evening.
After conceding the opening goal in the first half, the home side responded brilliantly with four goals, delighting the local supporters with an attacking display full of pace, intent and clinical finishing.The visitors struck first in the 21st minute through Alan Thapa, who capitalised on a promising move to hand Rajasthan United the advantage. Lajong, however, gradually settled into the contest and began to dominate possession with quick passing movements down the flanks.Their persistence finally paid off six minutes before halftime when Gladdy Kharbuli found the equaliser.
Lajong continued to press forward and completed the turnaround deep into first-half stoppage time. Everbrightson Mylliempdah rose to the occasion in the 45th+1 minute, giving the Shillong side a 2-1 lead heading into the break and shifting the momentum firmly in their favour.The second half began with Rajasthan United trying to regain control and they managed to restore parity in the 59th minute through Gerard Artigas, who finished off a well-worked attacking move to make it 2-2.
But Lajong refused to lose their grip on the match. The hosts continued to attack with confidence and were rewarded in the 71st minute when they won a penalty. Phrangki Buam calmly converted from the spot to put his side back in front once again.
