CBSE to revamp payment gateway after students face glitches

New Delhi, May 24: In response to widespread technical and payment-related issues faced by students during the CBSE post-result and re-evaluation process, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday held discussions with Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to address the concerns and improve the system. Following the meeting, it was decided that four major public sector banks – State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Indian Bank – will extend support to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in strengthening its payment gateway infrastructure and integrating it more effectively with the board’s post-examination services portal. The collaboration aims to establish a more robust payment mechanism capable of handling large volumes of transactions without disruptions. (IANS)

Man held for trying to join syndicate ‘linked’ to ISI

Hyderabad, May 24: A 22-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to join a crime syndicate “supported” by Pakistan’s spy agency ISI and trying to procure weapons through them, police said here on Sunday. Zayed Khan, from Uttar Pradesh, came to Hyderabad two months ago and was working in a hotel in Medchal area, they said. He was allegedly in contact with a group and their associates through online which was supported by Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence. The group was allegedly running an organised criminal gang in the country, police said. (PTI)

60-year-old dies after being run over twice by SUV in Delhi

New Delhi, May 24: An SUV driver assaulted a 60-year-old watchman with a stick, and then ran him over twice with his vehicle as the man fled, killing him, in Peeragarhi village on Sunday, police said. The deceased Bijender Bharadwaj worked as a watchman at the tempo stand where the incident occurred. CCTV footage shows the vehicle waiting in a corner with its headlights on for a few minutes while the victim sat on a chair in the opposite direction. A man stepped out of the vehicle carrying a large stick and attacked the victim without apparent provocation. As the victim tried to save himself, the accused returned to the SUV, ran him over once, and pushed him toward a corner, police said. When the victim attempted to escape by running towards the main road, the accused again ran him over a second time, and fled the scene. (PTI)

Tiger kills woman, dies during rescue

Umaria (MP), May 24: A tiger strayed into a residential area near the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve (BTR) in Madhya Pradesh’s Umaria district early on Sunday, killing a woman and injuring three others before dying during a rescue operation, officials said. The attack occurred around 3 am in the Kherwa Tola locality of Panpatha village near the reserve, following which angry locals allegedly assaulted a forest ranger and manhandled a woman staffer while protesting against repeated tiger attacks in the area. (PTI)
