WASHINGTON, May 27: The US military launched another strike Tuesday on a vessel suspected of drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific Ocean, killing one man and leaving two survivors.
Video released by US Southern Command showed the speeding boat bursting into flames after being struck.
The military said it immediately alerted the US Coast Guard to begin search-and-rescue operations for the survivors.
Since early September, the Trump administration has intensified operations targeting alleged drug-smuggling vessels in Latin American waters, including the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific, with at least 194 people reportedly killed.
The Pentagon inspector general has launched a review to determine whether the military followed established targeting procedures during the strikes, though it will not examine their legality. (AP)
