NONGPOH: Chief Secretary WMS Pariat, on Tuesday paid a farewell visit to Nongpoh and attended a brief meeting at Science Hall, Nongpoh in the presence of Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Pooja Pandey, ADCs, EACs and officers from various government departments in the district.
The farewell programme witnessed the presentation of gifts and mementos to the outgoing Chief Secretary by the officers of different departments.
In his farewell speech Pariat expressed pleasure at having been associated with the officers of Ri Bhoi District.
“As government employees it is important for us to look back at our career and assess what we have done. Hence, we need to deliver the best service and also to perform our duty well and contribute something through our service for the prosperity of the people and this can help us achieve the highest sense of satisfaction in our life,” Pariat said.
“Ri Bhoi district is marching ahead in every aspect and it has high potential for development; therefore there is a need for each and every one to continue with the spirit of cooperation towards development,” Pariat stated.
He, further, urged the officers to work hard and contribute their best for the welfare of the people, adding, “Your good performance and activities speaks for themselves not for others, and service to man is service to God.”
He also emphasized that the government had spend crores of rupees for the Umroi Airport but it was sad that it had remained incomplete. He, however, hoped that with the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner the remaining work can be completed in time.
The meeting was presided over by Addl. Deputy Commissioner K.L. Nongbri.
Farewell get-together for outgoing CS in Tura: The West Garo Hills district administration on Monday hosted a ‘Farewell – Get Together’ in honour of the outgoing Chief Secretary at Tura Circuit House, followed by a farewell dinner, our Tura correspondent reports.
Speaking on the occasion Pariat reminded all government officers of their duties to deliver their best in the service of the people. He recalled with a tinge of nostalgia his association with Garo Hills and said that his father was posted in the region in the late 1940s. He thanked his well wishers and humbly stated that he was not worthy of the praises bestowed upon him by them.
Among others who spoke on the occasion were West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi, Southwest Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Ram Singh and North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner W Khyllep.
Earlier the outgoing Chief Secretary attended a review meeting wherein representatives of all the five districts of Garo Hills were present. The meeting discussed various pertinent issues faced by concerned departments laying special emphasis on the law and order situation of the region.
