SHILLONG: There is a demand to make the magisterial inquiry report on the assault of Tura girls public.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, the CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said that instead of entrusting the officials to study the report, the Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak should make the report public.

The CSWO also demanded action against the police personnel who allowed stripping of the girls in Tura police station for taking photographs which according to her has outraged their modesty.

The pressure group has asked the women’s commission to take note of the matter.

After the 12 girls were kept in the observation home at New Colony, Laitumkhrah, East Khasi Hills District, the CSWO wanted to know why the girls were kept detained in an observation home, which is very small and congested which amounts to illegal detention.
