SHILLONG: Executive Member in charge Market, Hadrian Lyngdoh said that untimely release of funds from Centre has led to the delay in the completion of the Council market in Nongstoin.

“We are not getting funds from the Centre on time which led to delay in clearing of the pending bills of the contractors,” Lyngdoh informed during the Question Hour on the fourth day of the Council’s reassembled budget session on Thursday. The project which was allotted on September 15, 2009 was scheduled to be completed within 30 months.

While replying to a supplementary question raised by Congress MDC James M Tynsong, Lyngdoh informed that the total estimated cost of the project is Rs 5.29 crore and so far the Council has received Rs 3.54 crore.

“We are still awaiting the remaining Rs 1.26 crore,” Lyngdoh said adding that December 2014 was the fresh deadline for completion of the project.
